The caller claims to be able to help with money worries by offering debt consolidation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bureau has confirmed that no adviser, or anyone connected with the CAB service, would ever phone or text someone out of the blue and ask for bank details.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are cold called or get a text that offers you a loan, help dealing with debt problems or claims to be from your bank \u2013 it is almost certainly a scam.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Please make sure that you:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t give or confirm personal information<\/li>\n<li>Report the call immediately to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.actionfraud.org.uk\/report_fraud\" target=\"_blank\">www.actionfraud.org.uk\/report_fraud<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are facing financial difficulty there are many free credit advice services available for help and advice:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citizens Advice Bureau: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizensadvice.org.uk\/\"><em>www.<strong>citizensadvice<\/strong>.org.uk<\/em><\/a><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS): <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cccs.co.uk\/\">http:\/\/www.cccs.co.uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Debt Advice Network: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.debtadvicenetwork.org\/\">www.debtadvicenetwork.org<\/a> Tel. 0300 011 2340<\/p>\n<p><strong>National Debtline: <\/strong>FREEPHONE 0808 808 4000<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pay Plan: <\/strong><a href=\"\/relay\/www.payplan.com\">www.payplan.com<\/a> FREEPHONE 0800 716 239 \u00a0 8am -9pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>For advice on loan scams or any other consumer issues call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 or visit <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.direct.gov.uk\/consumer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>www.direct.gov.uk\/consumer<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Telephone Preference Service:<\/strong> You can register your wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls at <a href=\"www.tpsonline.org.uk\">www.tpsonline.org.uk<\/a> or call 0800 398893.
