Evergreens Meetings Suspended
The Evergreen Committee met on Thursday afternoon and the impact of Coronavirus/Covid-19 was discussed at length. Later that afternoon the PM broadcast to the nation and since then events have changed rapidly and your Committee has regretfully decided that the only responsible way forward will be to cancel Evergreen meetings for the time being as we have many members in the age group which are most vulnerable. We are very sorry to have come to this decision as we did not want to stop social contact earlier than necessary. We will contact members as soon as it would appear that meetings can resume.
The Residents’ Association is proposing to set up a scheme where shopping and medication could be picked up for those who require it, Evergreen will be involved with this where it can. If you want to know more please contact Committee members.

CORONAVIRUS LOCAL SUPPORT NETWORK
Can you help – or do you need help?
In response to the Coronavirus situation, Westminster Park Residents’ Association is setting up a support system for local residents who are likely to need to isolate themselves in the near future.
We would like to hear from you if:
- You are likely to be self-isolating in the near future (ie you are over 70 or have underlying health issues). Even if you do not require immediate help, it will help us to plan to support you later.
- You are willing to offer help, whether that is collecting and delivering urgent supplies, the daily newspaper or just picking up the phone and chatting to someone for a few minutes.
Please ring me on 07752 854383 or email me at chair@wp-ra.org.uk with the following details: your name, address and telephone number. Or even just pop a note through my door at 7 Dennis Drive. I can then co-ordinate your responses to develop a local network.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Jennifer Crew

FoWP Volunteer Day – Wednesday 25th March
Calling all FoWP volunteers!
We are arranging another FoWP Volunteer Day for Wednesday, 25 March. This date will coincide with the planting of a number of trees across the park by a group of Lloyds Bank volunteers in association with the Woodland Trust. Our FoWP volunteers, working in small groups, will provide a Spring tidy-up to the park, including clearing some of the pathways, cutting back overhanging branches and bushes, litter picking and “painting” the balustrade around the patio area by the café. If you could help, would you let Sue Britton know, and on the day bring along any appropriate tools (wheel barrows, hoes, clippers, secateurs etc).
We will run the session from 10.00 till 15.00, meeting first thing at the cafe/ Golf Shop. Please join us at any point during the day. Do invite any neighbours or friends who would be interested in helping.
Look forward to seeing you then.
Thanks in advance,
Steve Telford

A spring splash of colour from autumn bulb planting
In the autumn, the WPRA gardening club planted many daffodil bulbs at the entrances of Vincent Drive and Rowcliffe Avenue onto Lache Lane. It is wonderful to see them all now coming into flower. Thank you to all the planters and to our Councillors Neil Sullivan and Razia Daniels for providing the bulbs.

Here is the E-version of the March issue of WP News
Residents of Westminster Park and the Lache Lane area should by now have received their printed copies of WP News. If you normally receive one, but it has not yet arrived, please let me know.
In any case, here is the electronic version for you to read if you have not already done so.

Please complete ASB questionnaire – deadline extended to Saturday 7th March
The Chester Residents’ Associations Group (of which WPRA is a member) is running an Anti-Social-Behaviour questionnaire in conjunction with CH1BID. The questionnaire has been slightly reworded to make it more relevant to residents who live outside the City Walls, so if you tried it before and gave up, please try again!
The deadline has been extended until this Saturday, 7th March.
It is really important that as residents we give our views on this important issue for Chester. The response to the questionnaire will determine the level of resource that both CWaC and the Police allocates to this problem in the future, and so please complete the questionnaire ASAP. Here’s an updated link to the questionnaire

A couple of events for your diary …
Saturday, 21 March 2020 at Rowton Hall, 11am until 4pm – Sustainable Spring Fair
Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Waste team are currently focusing on textiles and how climate change is affected by fast fashion. The way we make, use and throw away our clothes is unsustainable. Textile production contributes more to climate change than international aviation and shipping combined, consumes lake-sized volumes of fresh water and creates chemical and plastic pollution. Synthetic fibres can be found in the deep sea, in Arctic sea ice, in fish and shellfish.
We like to think that we do our bit to recycle old clothes whether this is at local charity shops or at the kerbside but in reality there is a lot more we can do. With this in mind, we would like to invite you to a ‘Sustainable Spring Fair’ at Rowton Hall in Chester on Saturday 21 March 2020. The event is open from 11am to 4pm for you browse around the small traders selling their sustainable products, attend workshops about mending clothes and being creative with textiles, demonstrations and find out what you can do to reduce the amount of clothes you throw away.
Wednesday, 25th March, 4pm until 8pm at Town Hall – Chester Northgate
A ‘drop-in’ event is being held in the Palatine Room when residents and businesses will be able to ask questions about the Chester Northgate programme including the forthcoming drainage tunnel works.

Coffee and cake at the Interiors Shop.
Good evening friends and neighbours…
Just wanted to let everyone know that our new cafe area is now open and will be serving freshly ground illy coffee, Brew Tea Company loose leaf teas and homemade cakes by Patticakepop from 8.30am every weekday (9am on Saturday) ☕️
We can also fill your reusable cup if you prefer take away or you can buy your own on-the-go mug in store (in an attempt to reduce waste we aren’t supplying disposable cups but we’re happy to fill yours for take away drinks) ♻️
Once the weather perks up we’ll be opening up the courtyard and don’t forget we’re #dogfriendly
If you wouldn’t mind spreading the word that would be greatly appreciated
