Please complete survey on Anti-social Behaviour in Chester

Westminster Park Residents’ Association is a member of the Chester Residents’ Associations Group (CRAG) which has identified Chester city centre anti-social behaviour as one of its key issues. Problems around drug use, street drinking and begging seem particularly prevalent.

To help better understand how ASB is influencing how residents use the city centre, we would like you to complete this short survey.  The results will be collated and shared with Cheshire West & Chester Council (CW&C) and Cheshire Police to help them to understand the impact that ASB is having in order to direct resources more effectively.

The survey should take 6-8 minutes to complete and we recommend that you complete this on a device larger than a smartphone. A similar questionnaire is being conducted by CH1ChesterBID to Chester businesses as a joint approach with CRAG to understand this issue from an overall point of view.

CH1ChesterBID represents nearly 500 city centre businesses and aims to make Chester a retail, business and leisure destination of choice where people are proud to live, work and visit. This aligns strongly with CRAG’s ambition to make Chester a better place for all.
The link to the questionnaire is shown below; the more input received, the greater the impact of the findings.  Please find the time to complete this survey about our city.
The closing date is 29th February – and the results will of course be shared.

Your individual input will remain anonymous unless you give your specific permission.

Festive fun at Christmas Lights Switch-on

Great fun had was by all at the Westminster Park Christmas Lights Switch-on which took place on Thursday 5th December.

The Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Mark Williams, lead the countdown assisted by two members of the Belgrave Primary School choir.  Once the lights had been switched on the choir entertained the crowd of local residents with a selection of Christmas songs.

Refreshments were provided by the Westminster Park shops – mince pies from the Co-op, hot dogs from Bebbington’s butchers, pizza by Al Forno and prawns from Bebbington & Williams fishmongers.  The Westminster Park Residents’ Association supplied juice and mulled wine.

We are most grateful to our local councillors Neil Sullivan and Razia Daniels for providing funding from their Members’ Budgets to assist with the purchase of new lights for the trees opposite the shops and a beautiful Christmas tree, supplied by Francis Thomas, greengrocers.

All photographs are courtesy of Elise Mignon Weir.  Many thanks Elise.

The Lord Mayor of Chester congratulated Belgrave choir.

Play your part – Public consultation closes 5 December

In case you are not already aware, Cheshire West and Chester Council want to hear your views on the challenges and opportunities facing Cheshire West and Chester over the next few years.

  • How could the Council make a difference?
  • How should the Council fund tackling these challenges?
  • How could we and our community play a part?

They want to start a conversation about what the Council’s focus should be for the next four years, how they use their budget and how we may want to get involved.

You can offer your views by going to this website:

https://participatenow.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/play-your-part

The consultation is due to close on 5 December, so there is not much time left to make your views known.
